David Walton left this review about Mascara Bar
Visited 24/06/26. Visited previously 12/06/23.
No cask. Keg offering of Guinness, Jubel peach lager, Sapporo, Original SB, John Smiths, Thatchers Haze, Stella, Fosters, Angelo Poretti, K1664, Carlsberg, Brooklyn Stonewall Inn IPA.
Music orientated, old school, Irish bar. Long narrow bare boarded venue with the bar counter offering tall stool seating on the right-hand wall at the front of the venue. There is some awning covered seating at the front on the pavement that was overwhelmingly the quaffing spot of choice on my visit here. Beyond the end of the bar counter is a drinking ledge with tall stools on the left-hand wall and a single barrel table on the right-hand wall. The rear area, which houses a small stage on the rear left-hand corner, has a drinking ledge with tall stools on the run up to it on the left-hand wall. There is a bench supporting regular tables on the right-hand wall. This rear area is quite light challenged, the lighting provided by some lamps on the drinking ledge. Lots of drinking and Irish memorabilia on the walls in the front part and quite a bit of neon drinking signs around the bar counter. Single screen was switched off on my visit, the music an absolute rip-roaring crowd pleaser set of tunes. With really good drinking Guinness this is an old school venue of choice for me when occasionally in the neighbourhood.
