Blackthorn _ left this review about Square 53
An attractive looking stone built pub in the centre of this small town, besides the inside space, there is also a good amount of outside seating on the pedestrianised area in front of the pub and this too looked quite attractive with plenty of coloured foliage around the perimeter and branded umbrellas to shade you from the sun.
It is all the more disappointing then when you get in to find a single, uninspiring room, completely devoid of any character. The flooring was predominantly some form of wooden laminate with a curved path made from cream tiling snaking up the middle, whilst the walling was mostly plain cream paintwork with contrasting areas of maroon and also a little exposed brickwork in places. A projector screen was in one corner and there were a number of disco style lights and large speakers dotted round, suggesting it may get somewhat noisier and livelier later on in the evenings.
Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, or in fact much of anything at all in the way of beer with just Sharp’s Wild Rock red IPA on keg. Ciders fared little better with just Strongbow and Carling Black Fruits. Not surprising then that it was pretty much empty on our recent Friday evening visit. It’s certainly not anywhere I will bother returning to.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Square 53 Cafe Bar
Attractive modern cafe-bar. Light furniture and decor, with one screen showing BBC News and some background music on. Patio seating in the square out front. No real ale, so made do with draught Strongbow 'Pear Cider' (£3.40) with my tasty lunch-time mea.
