Not sure why this styles itself as a cafe bar it's a pub but lacks real ale. Slightly off the drag and seafront it's popular with locals and those staying in the nearby accommodation.
I enjoyed my time here as it's not a hotel style bar out of tourist trap but basic boozer with eventful behaviour from the locals.

One of the plethora of self-styled café bars that seem to infest Torquay. This is a dark and basic one room affair in cream and maroon, with a pool table at the far end and also a dart board. Loud music blarting out of the speakers despite the lack of customers. One ale (Full Brazilian) from a brewery I forgot to note which was watery and unimpressive in condition. Thatchers proper cider also on. Visit cut mercifully short when my companion decided to expel a pretty horrific gas build-up at the bar which didn’t go down too well. Can’t blame them really. Probably mutually agreeable that we don’t cross paths again.

Old Skools was previously called the Manor Inn and advertises itself as a café bar. The food is cheap pub grub and the bar is stocked with standard draught products. I believe that this is a shop conversion and the interior is quite spacious. There is a pool table at the rear and a dartboard can be found at the front. Some random music was playing off the jukebox and the plasma screen was off with no signs of Sky Sports. Monday is poker night, Tuesdays there is a dart competition, Thursday is open mic night and there is live music at the weekends. As my visit was on a recent Wednesday evening there wasn’t much going and the bar was empty.
The service was friendly but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here again.
