The Steelworks Tavern was very busy during a recent Tuesday evening visit. The main open plan narrow seating area to the right was completely full of an aged crowd, I got the feeling that little has changed in here since they were youngsters. The stage on the right-hand wall and minimal décor makes this space feel like a village hall. The bar counter is accessed via a couple of steps up to the left where a pool table is also found, although it was out of action being covered by some plyboard. Standard keg was available alongside San Miguel and Holts Black, so I ordered a generic lager and sat in the bar area, placing my beer on the floor as there were no tables. On the way to the toilets at the rear I passed a league darts match being played on a Manchester board. Sat back by the pool table I decided to slosh back my pint when the plastic cutlery and sandwiches started to be laid out on the pool table for the dart teams. They were very friendly, but this is a local pub for local people.

Isolated unchanged pub in the Gorton area of Manchester with dated decor that seems to be straight out of the 80's.You enter through a couple of double wooded doors, and up a couple of steps to the left is the bar,a seating area and a pool table. To the right is a long slender room,at the bottom of which is a small stage full of DJ equipment, and slightly forward to the right of the bar is an oddly shaped room that did not seem to serve any purpose apart from being full of junk and clutter. Was a little surprised to see the pub open at around 12-30 on a Tuesday lunchtime but there was a few customers in and the Hydes Black was a decent pint.

The Steelworks Tavern is a proper old looking pub that is situated in an industrial area on gorton lane.
The corner door was not in use so the only entrance was at the side of the pub on preston street, once inside the pub was very basic with a couple of rooms i had a drink in the bar which was very basic and also empty on my Friday dinner visit.
The pub was a Bass tied house and there was one real ale on the bar which was Worthington bitter this was on handpump and it was a decent drink.
This pub is still standing and i think still open.
