Alan Winfield left this review about Smiths Arms

The Smiths Arms was a very rough and ready pub that was in the shopping area of Hyson Green.
Once inside there was a largish bar at the front this room was very basic with bench seating around the edges and a few tables and chairs to the right, the bar was facing as you entered, there was also a lounge to the rear of the pub but we never went in that room.
The pub was a Home Ales tied house and there were two real ales on the bar,i usually had the Home bitter which was a decent drink.
The pub had a very cosmopolitan clientel and always had a bit of an edge to it.
I have been in this pub loads of times and have seen some unusuall sights while drinking in here which i have commented on the pub forum.
Sadly this pub has now closed down along with most of the pubs on this short stretch of road.
