Blue Scrumpy left this review about Usk & Railway Inn
Prominent pub in Sennybridge run by what seemed to be an elderly husband and wife team. We arrived to find the man behind the bar, watching football on his phone in between serving customers, whilst his wife was preparing meals in the kitchen.
The front bar has a tiled floor. It also possesses a TV but this was off in favour of some pop music. A few Welsh-speaking locals were in, along with a couple and their dog who were ordering food. A more formal and carpeted dining area can be found to the rear. There are various railway pictures and signs in this room as well as in the toilets. I'm not sure of the railway references but presumably Sennybridge used to have its own station.
The pub also has accommodation. Those staying overnight have their own car park to the rear, whilst there are also 4 spaces at the front of the pub.
3 cask ales are dispensed. For our visit, these were St Austell Tribute, Brain's The Rev James Original & Gower Gold. Brain's Dark was on keg. Ciders were Aspall's, Gwynt y Ddraig Orchard Gold & Thatcher's Gold & Haze.
Handy if you're passing by on the A40 but not really a destination pub.
