Will Larter left this review about West On The Corner
Externally very scruffy, this bar's interior is quite a contrast, because although the walls feature bare brick and stone, and there is some reclaimed timber in evidence, the overall impression is of a very large and very smart kitchen-cum-dining room, with white tables, modern dining chairs and low-hung lights everywhere. There's smart bench seating around the walls and quite clearly a lot of money has been spent getting all the details just right, including a fake fireplace and a corner on the way to the toilets which has the look and feel of an upmarket art gallery. So why not smarten up the outside?
The other let-down for me was the absence of real ale on the bar. The beers are all lagers, brewed according to German recipes and featuring such styles as hefeweissen, Munich red and a black lager. The ones I tried were pretty bland affairs, not helped by the low temperature and gassiness typical of this style of beer. The most palatable was the unfiltered lager, Wild West, which would be enough to tempt me back if in the area again.

Now open as a permanent bar & restaurant.

West On The Corner was a pop-up bar in what used to be The Halt. It's popped off now.
West is still rumoured to have plans to reopen after a refurb.

Situated in Glasgow's West End area the Halt Bar appears quite promising from the outside, but on this occasion the limited drinks choice let it down. The barman was friendly enough and there was a smart dark wooded central horseshoe bar but the 4 casks had there clips turned around and the only actual draught available was Tennants Lager and Magners Cider, which for a Friday night was very poor.

E TA left this review about The Halt Bar
The Halt Bar is a rather shabby one-room corner bar on the busy Woodlands Road. There is a U-shaped bar with various Victorian fittings, some original and some repro by the look of it. The feeling is one of a rather run-down business, and the complete lack of any welcome by the staff could be one explanation for its being empty of customers. Only one ale on, Deuchres IPA, which was not particularly enjoyable as it was badly kept. Unless you live nearby, I can see no real reason to come here.
