This pub is unchanged in more than 60 years and is on Camra's heritage pubs inventory. Entry is by a side door from the car park, a bar counter with sash screens being immediately in front once through the door. The other rooms are kept to a museum-like standard and I found myself tiptoeing around before returning to the bar room for beer and a chat. Most of the other customers appeared to be bilingual, switching between Welsh and English depending on which words came more readily. Before it got a little busier there was one old chap who gave me quite a bit of local history and his life story. The place is run by a couple with young children, who were very friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately the beer was below par (NBSS 2), a choice of beers from Conwy Brewery - a Blonde and a Gold. The old chap seemed to be enjoying his Blonde but I went for the Gold. Nevertheless, this was on the whole a pleasant visit, but maybe I'll have the Blonde next time.
