Bucking Fastard left this review about The Sword Inn Hand
An interesting 14th century building with some Georgian alterations, which these days houses an upmarket country dining pub.The front door leads into a quarry tiled interior with the small bar straight ahead. To the right is a section with some antique wooden furniture,a discreet small TV and a fireplace full of flowers. There are many beams and charming windows and nominally this is a place where you could drink without dining although most tables here were occupied by folk filling their faces !To the left there are two sections again with authentic furniture while to the rear of the building is a larger barn extension with tables laid for diners.
There are three handpumps dispensing GK IPA,Thwaites Wainwright and Growler Hound Dog (£3.20) in fair condition but it is safe to assume that wine is the drink of choice here rather than real ale.Friendly welcome from the attractive barmaid /waitress.
I didn't eat but the menu is pricey, chalboard specials were around £6 for starters and £15-£18 for mains although there were meal deals on two courses for £18.The website also lists some cheaper bar snack alternatives. The popularity on a damp lunchtime might indicate that quality is good, and the internal ambiance must also help .It was a shame that there wasn't a glowing real fire to complete to country inn vibe.
Not really a place for a session ,but worth popping in for a pint or saving up for a special meal.
