The entrance of the Cheshire Cat leads to a low beamed bar that was unmanned and dimly lit during a recent Thursday evening visit. To the right is a seating area and through to the left is an L-shaped bar area with banquette seating at the rear. Stairs lead up to more setting on the 1st floor, but this area was roped off. Out the back is a long conservatory with seating that leads to a beer garden that houses booths down the right and patio furniture the left. A television was airing rolling muted news whilst the likes of the Cure played in the background. I counted two handpumps on the bar, one was unused and the other was drawing Weetwood Brewery’s Cheshire Cat. There is also a premium keg range. This is a bar, restaurant and hotel so food is available, the burger is priced at £15. I found this place to be too corporate and food led so I don’t plan to return.

Viewable on "Google view inside" Very arty farty like AB review. I am glad I stayed in the Black Lion opposite.

Just across the road from the excellent Black Lion , this is a Black and White half timbered building dating from the 1670s , once inside the interior is a strange mixture of old wood and modern glass and chrome , with a glass wall dividing the pub from the small courtyard area .
I stayed in the side bar as it was more pub like , two handpulls , one hiding behind a pile of menus with Weetwood Cheshire Cat and TT Landlord .
As the previous review points out it is rather self important .
Not my sort of place at all , but it was pretty busy so must be doing something right .

Edge of town place set in the surroundings of its own backside. A mixture of old style and arty farty nonsense. 2 roomed with low beams and wooden posts. There are a total of 3 handpumps, one in the larger room and 2 in the smaller room to the left, dispensing Doom Bore and Tim Taylor Boltmaker today. Has a half decent courtyard area but is very much food led. Expensive and pretentious. Very much like the clientele.
