Will Larter left this review about Three Stags Heads

Old stone building set at right angles to the road, with a raised area of grass in front with some tables. An old Hardy's and Hansons sign still affixed beside the front door has been painted over, and the interior has been thoroughly improved. Actually it's been quite tastefully done, with two tones of green paint going well with dark wood, separate rooms retained, a large fireplace to the left, and the bar counter in the room to the right, in simple stained wood with a carved border. There are four hand pumps with three local beers (Peak Ales, Abbeydale and Dancing Duck) and one from an international conglomerate (Pedigree). My half of DCUK from Dancing Duck was pretty good (NBSS 3.5, £4.80/pint).

The Three Stags Heads is a nice looking stone built that is set sideways onto the road, the pub is a short walk over the River Derwent from the Square and Compass.
Once inside this is a really nice unaltered pub with a few rooms,i had a drink in the bar which had a nice stone floor and small tables and chairs, this room had a proper pub atmosphere to it and i felt very comfortable in here.
When i went in this pub it was a Kimberley tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Kimberley bitter which was a very nice drink the other beer was Kimberley mild.
This was a really nice pub and well worth the walk down from the main A6.
