E TA left this review about The Hood Arms

A former coaching inn on the main North route to Minehead, the original building dating from the 17th Century. The inn still offers B&B. There is limited parking at the front, while the former courtyard has been transformed into a pleasant, private garden with some lawn, flower features and a large boules court. There is an overflow car park just over the road. Inside, two of the front rooms have been conjoined to form a long bar with an inglenook containing a woodburner at one end, while the other end has a brick chimney open on two sides; the other side heats the large carpeted dining room. The two lovely barmaids were very welcoming and showed good humour. Dogs and humans are equally welcomed, and the customers that came in seemed mainly to be civilised. We didn’t pick up on a local cadre, so it seems it’s mainly tourists who come here, a shame given its atmosphere, good pub food and excellent ales. That does explain the higher than average prices, though. The two ales on when we visited were Glastonbury’s Lady Of The Lake and Otter Bright, both in perfect condition. The keg range was Proper Job, Guinness, Amstel, Moretti, Thatcher’s Gold, Sheppey’s Cider and Exmoor Cider. An excellent pub which really should have more extensive opening hours. It’s on the 2025 Somerset CAMRA Ale Trail.
