The Hope Inn has just been demolished this week (along with the much longer closed Bull's Head, 30 yards away on the next block). Due to the excellent beer from Hydes and the hospitality from very friendly tenants (late '70's), the Hope was always the last port of call on our 12 to 15 pub Real Ale Hulme Crawls, of which only three are still open and only one on cask beer. The Hope was a very well run "street corner local" where the small narrow vault was the hub of the pub, with a larger lounge served from a hatch in the small entrance hall.
The Hope was one of the traditional "Rovers Return" type pubs that are rapidly disappearing from our streets!

The Hope Inn is a small corner pub on the busy chester road.
I used the side entrance as i think the front door is'nt used, there were a few small rooms inside and these were fairly basic but nice enough.
This pub was a Hydes tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Hydes bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Hydes mild.
On my visit the pub was very busy but the landlady said it was just closed for the afternoon but on saying i had travelled a long way to get to this pub she kindly let me have a drink and when i had finised that asked me if i wanted another drink, very nice of her.
I quite liked this pub but sadly it has now closed down.
