E TA left this review about Orchard Inn
A roadside inn dating from the 19th Century, it was previously The New Inn, then The Old Inn, and was also a Harvester. It has now been refurbished after a being closed for couple of years. There are 2 large car parks, one of which resembles a builder’s yard. The enclosed garden is small and has a lawn with benches and tables. The main bar has been formed from conjoining the two front rooms, and there is a smaller bar at the back. The main bar has two woodburners and a dartboard, while there was plenty of comfortable seating. There was a lot of noise coming from a caged bird, exacerbated by an idiot who kept whistling back at it and thinking this was funny. His idiot wife was vaping at the bar. Other idiots, mainly members of what is euphemistically called ‘the travelling community’ were aggressive, unpleasant and loud. The barmaid was, though, very pleasant. Food was on offer, but the atmosphere was not conducive to a pleasant meal. Ales on draught were Doombar and Butcombe’s Original, while a third pump dispensed Old Rosie. The beer was in very good condition, but the experience was not a pleasant one and I doubt I’ll return. It’s on the 2018 Somerset Ale trail.
