Blue Scrumpy left this review about Burt's Hotel

Burt's Hotel is one of 3 entries for Melrose in the current Good Beer Guide. Whilst it does dispense cask ale, the focus here is very much on dining with all tables laid out for those eating with table mats and condiments. It's also quite an upmarket place which also has accommodation.

The main room is sub-divided with the bar itself to the right-hand side. It is carpeted and quite plush. There are plenty of smartly dressed young serving staff with a guy who appeared to be Italian running the show. Cask ales were Timothy Taylor Landlord & Born Game Bird. Tempest Long White Cloud was available on keg and the cider was Thatcher's Gold. At £6 a pint, you probably wouldn't choose to have a session here.

A sign on the bar said "please ask to see our cigar range", giving an inkling as to the clientele it attracts. Dogs are allowed but according to CAMRA's website, two barks and they're out! Probably worth a visit if you happen to be in Melrose but not really my cup of tea.

Ok hotel bar but only appears to cater for elderly customers, opposite town centre in rather sterile town
