A run-down canal-side pub which offers B&B and hot food, claiming to be a restaurant but not quite making the grade. Approached from the canal path or across a rickety bridge by car, there is a large gravel car park and a small outside seating area with benches and tables. The view outside is not great, and there is constant noise from the motorway flyover which in only a few yards away. Inside, there is an overpowering smell of vinegar, and unsettling noise from the caged birds in the bar. The bar is P-shaped, with a counter in the centre serving drinks, and another at one end serving coffee. The landlady was pleasant enough, but it just didn’t feel like a proper pub. There was only one ale on, Butcombe’s Original, which was in poor condition. I’m not convinced I would make the effort again.

Called in for a pint while walking the canal towpath - beer was average, didn't eat so can't comment, service was so-so. Not one of the better pubs in the area although the only one close to the canal towpath in this neck of the woods. Generally below average and I won't be rushing back.
