A pleasant hotel on the fringes of Bridgwater which has a public bar. It's an 18th Century house in its own grounds, part of which is a small carpark, the rest a country garden. Most of the building is taken up by the restaurant and accommodation business, while a decent sized room has been left as a bar. The bar is in two parts – a comfortable seating area with a large woodburner in an inglenook, sofas and a country house atmosphere, while the other part is less refined; functional tables cater for bar diners, and a huge stainless steel servery allows rather industrial views into the kitchen one way and loud noise from the kitchen to pass the other, and a second fireplace is also less grand. There are dog treats available from the bar alongside Two draft ales, Otter and Butcombe's original. The beer was in good condition, very enjoyable. There were also 3 boxed ciders on the bar. I'd be very happy to come back here to dine or drink, and it might be a good B&B option.
