Blue Scrumpy left this review about Black Cat
I haven't been to this bar for many years and not since it has become part of the Black Cat chain of bars in Liverpool. The ground floor is a single room, with an upstairs seating area blocked off for our visit. It does not look as if it has been used for some time, which makes this the smallest of the Black Cat venues. However, there is also an outdoor seating area to the rear.
The bar was busy on our Saturday afternoon visit with all tables taken. A couple playing Scrabble were happy for us to at least use the end of their table to place our drinks. Live football was advertised.
There are 3 cask ales available. For our visit, these were Higson's Pale Ale, Black Sheep Rekindle & Sunbeam Oatmeal Stout. There is also a larger keg selection, which included Camden Stout, Black Lodge Ulfr, Colbier Cool For Cats, Lune Brew LB508 Stampede & Nightjar How To Drain Your Flagon. There are further options for cans (and possibly bottles) in a fridge opposite the bar. The full range can be found on the Untappd app.
The bar is on a few bus routes and close to Mossley Hill railway station too. So, it's fairly easy to get to. However, there's not much else in the way of decent pubs in this area. So, I doubt I'll be back in a hurry.

New bar in one part of which to be the old Pi Bar. A "bottle and tap' place which has a selection of craft beers, a load of canned craft and 3 handpulls. The 3 casks consisted of 1 Mission Creep beer and range from £3.90 - £4.50+ a pint (which ain't too bad). Keg beers are wallet emptying expensive £5 - £9.50 a pint and the canned beers even more so. A small single room with a small outside area to the rear. A lot of arrows pointing you to either the toilet or the way out (though arrows pointing you straight to the poor house would be more appropriate). Expensive, pretentious and shite. Not a place for mingebags.

A small pub by Mossley Hill station. It has 2 rooms with the pub being extended into next door but only the one was open on this midweek afternoon visit. Wooden furniture with old school-like chairs. 4 handpumps for real ale with beers being from Red Willow, Bad Co. and Tatton on today. 8 fonts dispense crafty brews. Its a fairly good place to have a drink and it was friendly enough.

Pi is a one roomed bar situated on the main road close to Moseley Hill railway station. There were 4 casks on show on my Tuesday lunchtime visit (1cider and 3 ales)There was 3 regular ones plus one on a rotation system. My first pint was slightly cloudy and although tasted OK the barman had no hesitation in changing it for another and allowed me to sample them both before selection.Enjoyed my short stay here and the beery chat I had with the friendly barman. If in the area again will make a return visit.
