Strongers . left this review about The Alchemist

The Alchemist has a front bar area with a blue tiled copper topped L-shaped serving counter up the right with mushroom lights on the bar at either end, for some reason I became somewhat obsessed with these mushrooms during my short stay. Opposite the counter is a row of tables along the front windows. At the rear is a large dining area that there was no need for me to visit. The barman was polite, but he must get sick of having to tell every customer what the draught options are because there are no labels on the taps. Not all of us think to look for a drinks menu before approaching a bar. I did glean that Birra Moretti and Asahi were the lager options, I went for half the latter which was pleasant enough. This is a plush city centre bar and restaurant, good for going out after work if you’re loaded.

No. Its very rubbish and if you're over 40 get a grip of yourself. Whether or not you want to admit it you're too old.

Smart lager bar in the centre of Spinningfields. Obviously aimed at the suits from the surrounding tower blocks of offices. It's very high and airy with some interesting lighting and a great looking bar back with a large clock dominating. None of the lager pumps have names on them so I'm not sure what the full range is, but I ended up with a Becks, which was freezing cold and tasteless. It was £3.60 which is quite reasonable for this part of Manchester. Not a bar I'll be visiting on a regular basis I suspect.
