The Merlin is a pub and hotel housed in a very grand building which is centrally located between Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, so it’s a bit of a walk from either side. There’s a central bar area with a counter that supports premium and craft keg alongside two hand pumps, one of which was in operation drawing Sharp’s Doom Bar. To the right is a dining area, but during my recent Monday evening visit everyone was participating in the speed quiz in the bar area. Something I’ve not seen before is the large standalone greenhouse/conservatory that sits out front opposite the entrance. The staff were polite, but this pub is too food orientated to warrant a return visit just for another pint.
