An isolated Robinsons pub in an out of the way location on the footpath between New Mills Central and Strines railway stations. There's a small beer garden where we chose to settle, as my two year old grandson can be a bit of a handful inside pubs, especially pubs I've not been to before. There were two cask ales on, but the Unicorn was well past its best and was willingly replaced with the rebadged house beer (Fox Inn Ale, 3.8% with Amarillo hops, which I think means that it's Dizzy Blonde). It was pretty quiet here for a Saturday afternoon, but maybe people were going to a street festival in Marple Bridge, which was pretty busy as we discovered an hour later.

The Fox Inn is a nice looking pub that is in the isolated hamlet of Brookbottom.
I walked it here from Birch Vale whoever says country walking is enjoyable must need their heads testing, the bridleway was littered with giant bolders so i was looking at the floor most of the time and not the scenery.
Once inside i went in a smallish room that had the bar in it,there may have been other rooms but i did'nt look, the pub is a Robinsons tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Robinsons Unicorn bitter which went down very well the other beer was Robinsons Hatters mild.
This is a really nice unspoilt pub and i thought well worth the long walk.
