Blue Scrumpy left this review about The West Kirby Tap

Paid this bar a re-visit yesterday, almost 10 years since my only other visit. It has quite a large room with the bar on the left-hand side. Run by the Spitting Feathers Brewery, there are 8 handpulls on the bar. Spitting Feathers Session Beer & Thirst Quencher are the regular cask ales. Guests were Lakes El Capitan, Neptune Sonas, Salopian Golden Thread & Lemon Dream & Round Corner Market Pale. One of the handpulls was also clipped with a cider - Lilley's Apples & Pears. Craft beers were Tiny Rebel Clwb Tropica, Spitting Feathers Over Time, Thornbridge Dubbel & Blackjack All Angels. Pulpt Flare was the keg cider.

Live music is hosted at various times, but the pub was fairly quiet on our Wednesday afternoon visit. Whilst not a traditional pub (give the White Lion a try), it's still a good option for drinking in West Kirby and probably just about the best choice as things stand.

Brainy Pool left this review about The West Kirby Tap

Unusual building which I felt lacked a bit of atmosphere and ambience despite Spitting Feathers best efforts. A spacious brewpub with lots of dining tables, high ceilings and a smelly pizza oven, it reminded me a bit of Vocation’s effort in Halifax. I decided to join in and order pizza which was excellent, the beers are good too. So no faulting it for what it is, but just not quite my cup of tea. for what it’s worth, only two Spitting Feathers ales on, the rest were guests with Neptune particularly prominent.

The Chairman left this review about The West Kirby Tap

A slightly cusrious pub that looks like it was converted from a garage or workshop. Reasonably busy mid-afternoon on a weekday, with pizzas being offered as well as a good beer range. Three cask beers from Spitting Feathers, three from Big Hand and one from Peerless.

Graham Coombs left this review about The West Kirby Tap

A peculiar building, feeling like a small village hall with some added features, including a fireplace. And a bar, of course, which being owned by the Spitting Feathers brewery offered several of their ales, plus 3 from Peerless and a couple of others, as well as a cider and a few craft on keg. A kitchen at the back offers mainly pizza. Not a conventional pub but a nice place to enjoy some good beers.

Better and bigger than it looks from the outside, a beer barn, strange almost American feel, ceiling fans, pitched roof and fine

Real Ale Ray left this review about The West Kirby Tap

Owned by Spitting Feathers Brewery from Chester, so you will always find one or two of their beers on. The pub always has seven hand pulled ales and one cider to choose from, I went for their regular, which was Spitting Feathers Thirstquencher. The other beers on my Thursday afternoon visit were, Spitting Feathers Session, Great Heck Sleck Dust, Black Lodge Extended Universe, Brass Castle Sunshine, Tiny Rebel Loki and Peerless Triple Blonde. The cider that was on was Oliver's Shezam, and there was also 4 keg lines, 2 continental lagers and a good range of canned and bottled beers.
The space consisted of one large high vaulted timber trussed lounge area and bar, with a smaller room leading off this at the front. The bar had an oak counter top with the front of the bar painted in dark green, a distressed timber wall on the opposite wall made a good feature.
Staff were friendly and informative, and the fellow drinkers were also friendly and chatty. Monday has a Hoppy Hour from 12-5pm, where all real ales are £2.50 a pint.

Now a proper pub. Same lot who have The Brewery Tap in Chester. Will keep strokey-beard Camra types happy.

More restaurant than pub. Serves eurofizz beers. Oh, and they're extremely expensive.
