E TA left this review about The Porton Hotel
The Porton Hotel is a Victorian red brick building, once the hotel for the now-defunct railway station, now the only pub in the village. It has two bars and a restaurant area inside, while outside there is a large sloping garden with various swings and things. It recently re-opened after a few months' break, with a new landlord who wants to concentrate on real ale quality. It's still a bit tacky inside, but this may well improve in the coming months. I had a pint of Black Sheep Bitter which was in first class condition and a real joy to drink in a pub so local ot me. Although it's a bit out of the way, it's worth deviating from the A338 to find, and it is well worth including in a mechanised crawl of the Bourne Valley where there are so many very good pubs.
