Bucking Fastard left this review about The Sparrow
A modern built pub (1960's ?) along a country lane but within earshot of the M6 and a large industrial estate, there is a large motel in a seperate building to the left side. The apex door gives way to a large interior,to the right a wait to be seated conservatory with laid tables while to the left are a series of sections, initially with dining tables ,then a darts and pool table section while further around is another seating area with the L shaped bar wrapping around the far wall.
The mezzanine level was roped off but there is more seating up there with most furniture throughout the interior in pine with textile seat coverings. Not a high table to be seen !
The pub was quiet on my Monday lunchtime visit ,so the moderate muzak lent some much needed atmosphere, while a few old dears were eating lunch in the conservatory. It's fine to just drink here ,although nobody lives close by and the bar does not have any handpumps, just multinational keg crap from which I chose a half of Cruzcampo.
Food was pub grub with starters £7,mains £14,deserts £6,Pizze £14 and there was a January meal deal of 2 mains for £19,hence the old dears.
It's a hike from the Oxford Canal but not one I would recommend for anything other than the pub grub which was decent.
