Blue Scrumpy left this review about Bridge Inn
Making a return visit, this time on a Saturday when the pub is advertised as being open all day, we found the Bridge Inn to be open this time around.
A young bartender greeted us and there was a choice of 2 real ales - Wye Valley HPA & Three Tuns Best. There is no real cider on draught, but local Ty Gwyn cider is available in bottles.
The pub has been nicely done out, but still has a traditional feel. At the time of our visit (late afternoon), customers were seemingly all drinkers. We sat opposite 3 local farmers who had just finished lambing for the season and were having a well-deserved post-lambing session! There were a few other local characters arriving whilst we were there too.
With a nice secluded location on the Welsh border, the Bridge Inn is worth seeking out. But do double check that it is open.
Original Review 3/2/22:
It's a long way to this remote pub situated on the Welsh border, but we were determined to make it in time for its published closing time of 6pm on a Sunday. So imagine our disappointment to find it closed at 5pm.
We arrived just as the staff were heading home. I did speak to the landlord on the telephone and in fairness he was very apologetic and admitted that they closed as soon as the last Sunday lunch punters had left.
I'll certainly be calling ahead before making the 3-hour journey from London again. Otherwise, good luck in finding it open!
