Old Boots left this review about Surrey Arms

A double fronted Victorian pub opposite the similar Sam Smiths Crown, this one has been opened out with the ends of the corridor walls removed although an empty doorway remains into the right hand room. It retains a lot of Boddingtons signage and sells the keg version. The left room has banquette seating facing each other, the right one has a pool table. The counter is an L shaped one in the back right corner, two unused pulls and three kegs on bars unusually with bespoke labels rather than roundels. There’s a machine, screens and juke box. Nice bar back, good tiling on the route from door to counter, carpet on the left, quarry tile on the right perhaps indicating their original class designations. Hard to tell the decor through the World Cup flags. The pub is frequented by two large smelly dogs, Boxers I believe, no sweary lads though on this visit just a few old blokes late afternoon, nobody swore in front of my wife as it wasn’t her turn .

The Surrey Arms is a small stone built pub that is on the end of a row of terrace houses.
This pub is quite close to the Crown.
Once inside there were a couple of rooms and i had a drink in the bar which was a decent room, the pub had Boddingtons signs outside and there were no real ales on the bar the only bitter was the rubbish Boddingtons Cream so i had a drink of Guinness which was a decent drink.
This was a decent enough pub but it was let down by having no decent beer on the bar.
