Old Boots left this review about The Crown Inn

An unspoiled “Victorian” pub a bit of a walk uphill from the town centre. Unusually for a Sam Smith’s pub it’s GBG listed. My Old Brewery Bitter was good bordering on very good. Internally it’s double fronted with a room off to each side, a small sitting room to the right with banquettes and Britannia stools and tables, on the left a larger room is dominated by a pool table, it also has bench and banquette seating. The short entrance corridor with a Britannia table leads to the counter located in a drinking lobby. Off to the right is a further sitting room in similar style to the other rooms. The counter has two pulls with OBB plus a selection of the usual Sam’s kegs. It appears to have been lovingly restored to 19th Century style by Sam Smith with their usual skilful hand and no expense spared.

The dog ate my notes. However my trusty papping shows a traditional Sam’s pub with a parlour bar serving cask OBB with at least two separate rooms, one loungey and the other public/games (with a pool table). It is (unusually for a SS) GBG listed and has a rare *** CAMRA Inventory listing though it’s not based on opulencey. I didn’t even Untapp my OBB, so it must have been decent enough if I don’t remember it specifically! Next time I’ll do this one first rather than last.

It felt a bit like sitting in your grandma's house in the 70's. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Will Larter left this review about The Crown Inn

This pub was twice as busy as all the other pubs put together on a recent tour around Glossop. This was partly due to the time of day (our last pub before the 18.35 bus, the last one back to New Mills and the train to Sheffield), partly due to the very cheap Sam Smiths brewery product on tap. Only one real ale, of course, but the Old Brewery Bitter is an excellent pint when in form, and this was pretty good. At £1.60 a pint, there won't be many complaints. The lively, friendly atmosphere and the good beer tempted us to stay for one more than we should have, with the result that we were 20 metres short of the bus stop when the bus went past - fortunately the driver spotted our desperate hand signals and stopped for us, otherwise we'd have had to go back for another pint to fortify us for the alternative route home via Manchester.

The Crown Inn is a stone built pub that is on the end of a row of terrace houses.
Once inside this pub looked unaltered with a couple of rooms that i noticed,i had a drink in the bar which was a very nice room.
This pub is a Samuel Smiths tied house and there was one real ale on the bar this was Old Brewery bitter and this was a very nice drink,i really liked this pub and was quite happy having a drink in here.
