Real Ale Ray left this review about The Toad In The Hole

A good sized standalone pub, owned by Hand Brew Co The interior was traditional and comfortable, along with a couple of picnic benches out front. The landlady was looking a little flustered as one of the handpumps had completely broke and the second one, which we ordered our beer from was also playing up, as one of the pins in the base had become loose. She did manage to get some beer out of it and the beer was good quality. Four handpumps with three beers on, which were all from Hand Brew Co, Bird Bitter, High 5 Oat Pale and Otto Dry Stout.

Has now reopened under new management and is known as The Toad In The Hole. Managed by Hand Brewery Co who have a brewery and tap room in West Worthing. Some redecoration has been done, but probably more to be done. Currently has two ales on hand pump and a number of keg taps. Opening hours are not yet fully confirmed but probably late afternoons Monday to Wednesday until 11pm and noon until 11pm Thursday to Sunday.

There is a Toad In The Hole game in the bar area. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toad_in_the_hole_(game)

Strongers . left this review about The Castle Tavern

The Castle was the second pub on my crawl of Worthing on Saturday afternoon so I must have arrived just after midday. Alas it was closed and the opening times given in the door were 17:00 during the week, 18:00 on Saturdays and closed all day Sundays. I decided to make an effort to return later in the day and I managed to return at around 22:00. Thankfully the pub was open and there were a handful of locals sitting at the U shaped bar. Around to the left of the bar is a pool table and there was some music playing in the background.
The draught was standard and one of the six hand pumps was unused leaving three brews from Dark Star, Hopback Brewery’s Summer Lightening and Old Rosie cider as the cask options.

This is very much a local’s boozer, but I wasn’t made to feel unwelcome by the regulars and the service was polite. I’d have no problem returning for another pint if I happened to be passing during the restrictive opening hours.
