Old Boots left this review about The Commercial Inn

A double fronted, stone built pub like so many Peak District ones. The inside is opened out but there is still an almost separate room to the left of the entrance corridor. To the right is more seating at banquettes, chairs and tables, dining looks to be the main activity in this part so be prepared for foody smells. The counter is in here with two horseshoes, a couple of cider edifices and three pulls but just a very reasonable Taylors Landlord available. Passing on from the counter towards the back is a long space with a pool table, dart board and an odd floral display on the ceiling. The place is very well equipped with screens, even in the gents, and you don't need to suffer in silence as the piped music is there if you lost on the machine. The counter has some interesting tiles as a frieze and the pub appears to sell fresh eggs. Definitely a locals pub in spite of its main road location.

Middle class refurb pub. Relatively pleasant if a bit grey in places. Pink plastic roses above the bar, a feminine touch. Horse racing on the telly which I didn't expect. Three pumps with two on, Theakston (slightly alkaline, NBSS 2) and Unicorn.

The Commercial Inn is a stone built pub that is inbetween old and new Glossop.
The pub is fairly big and goes back quite a way, once inside the pub was quite smart with carpets throughout and the pub had been opened out but had different drinking areas.
This was a Whitbread tied house when i went in here and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Castle Eden bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Taylor Landlord and Boddingtons bitter.
The pub was very busy and had a decent atmosphere.
