Blackthorn _ left this review about Junior Poon Wine Bar
As it's name suggests, this is very much more of a wine bar than your traditional pub, and in fact there are no draught drinks of any description available. It is part of the Chinese restaurant of the same name upstairs, and is used in many cases by diners having a pre-dinner drink. Nonetheless, it does have it's own entrance and opening hours, so may also be used by those after some purely liquid refreshment.
It's divided in to a number of different rooms, all with canary yellow paint and sandy colour tiles on the floor. The largest room includes the marble topped bar counter and a stone archway is still visible in the roof, although the majority of the stonework has been plastered over. Seating is mostly brown leather armchairs arranged around low tables, and there were a number of pot plants scattered around.
The menu consisted of Chinese snacks at around the £5 mark with various noodle options along with the usual stalwarts of seaweed, crispy shredded chicken and crispy aromatic Peking duck among others. We didn't eat from the snack menu, but did eat in the main restaurant upstairs and were rather disappointed overall. It's a long established restaurant with a good reputation, but going on our experience we will not be retuning to sample any more food.
As previously noted, there are no draft drinks available. As far as I could make out, the solitary bottled beer option was Old Speckled Hen, whilst the cider was Thatcher's Gold.
