Peter Forster left this review about The Moors Inn

An old pub in a pleasant village on the southern edge of the North York Moors. The pub sign depicts grazing sheep which is appropriate as Appleton-Le-Moors is known for its large herd of free roaming sheep in and around the village. Going inside there is a relatively small bar area with low beamed ceilings and an open fire. The walls display vintage local photographs, pictures of dogs and the old pub sign. It is carpeted and has a mix of tables, chairs and a leather sofa. All of this gives the place a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Two steps lead to the much larger dining area which seems to wrap around the pub. Clearly food is a big part of the pub’s business. On hand pump were Jolly Sailer’s Sea Fret, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and Bradfield’s Brown Cow. I had a half of the Sea Fret with a packet of Piper’s cheese and onion crisps, reasonably priced at £3.25. The beer was in good condition, a well balanced pale ale with a pronounced floral note (NBSS 3.5). The only real downside to the pub was the staff. The barman served me efficiently but wasn’t engaging. He was happy to interact with his phone and other members of staff but I wasn’t really given the time of day. Maybe he was having an off day. He seemed more engaging with locals as they drifted in. Overall a good country village pub, a little too local for me but the food looks like the main draw and worth visiting for a meal if in the area.
