Will Larter left this review about Don Valley Hotel
My drinking companion remembered this as the Coach & Horses from many years ago, and a couple of the locals told us it used to be the Swan, but it's present incarnation as the Don Valley Hotel - not far from the stadium of the same name - is a welcome addition to the vanishingly small number of real ale outlets in the area. An A-board on the pavement advertises hand-pulled Black Sheep, but there's also a guest ale from the Molson Cools guest ales list. On this occasion it was Clark's Classic Blonde, which was described as slightly tired by my drinking partner, and to be honest I've had better Black Sheep, but at least they're trying! Beer was slightly cheaper than at the Carlton just along the road - £2.40 a pint.
The bar is to the left of the entrance lobby, and a couple of bandits take up quite a lot of the space in the small but comfortable room, where we found the atmosphere friendly. There's a pool table in a separate room to the right of the hall.
