Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Fox & Grapes

Castle Rock house in the Sneinton area of Nottingham. The pub has a wooden floor with a large notable Banks's pub sign at one end of the bar showing the former name of the pub (Peggers). The pub has plenty of windows, but drawn venetian blinds actually made it feel quite dark inside. Music was playing on our visit and there was quite a lively atmosphere. Quiz nights take place on a Wednesday and board games also appear to be popular. Monday is board game night. Tables had condiments on them, but I didn't actually notice anybody eating. Children are allowed in.

Untappd screens list the beers available. Castle Rock's Harvest Pale, Screech Owl, Elsie Mo & Preservation are the regular cask ales. 2 guests were Wylam's Landlord's Choice & Forest Road Lewi. A further 3 handpulls are reserved for ciders. There was Lilley's Mango & Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon. The third cider handpull was unclipped. Craft beers were Castle Rock Session, Wiper & True Citra & Rye, Kaleidoscope & Double Espresso Martini, Indie Rabble Marzen & Verdant Light Bulb.

Quite a decent pub with a lively atmosphere and friendly service.

Set in an attractive 19th century building, once a Banks pub but now owned by Castle Rock. Now modernised inside but tastefully so in an L shaped single room. I counted nine handpulls but this figure differs from previous reviews and differs again from CAMRA Experiences current write up, whatever the truth there are plenty of beers available, many from Castle Rock as you would expect but also guests, my Thornbridge Melba was very good. Well worth the look in this bit of town.

ORIGINAL REVIEW June 2021.

An oblong Victorian building in Sneiton Market,no doubt once used by the market porter but these days owned by Castle Rock. The interior had been unsympathetically stripped out and it's quite antiseptic. The slatted blinds in the windows look awful and make the interior gloomy. The bar is to one side and has 8 handpumps but the ale list on my trip was just 4,Castle Rock Screech Owl,Preservation and SIPA Simcoe (not right NBSS 1.5) with a single guest Liquid Light Turtles Have Short Legs.
There is a much longer and more interesting craft keg list ,and more real ciders than real ale.Food served until 8pm.
There are ranks of benches outside and this seemed a less gloomy option.
I came here on the back of it's 2021 GBG listing.I was disappointed and can't understand why the local branch think this pub is deserving with the excellent King Billy a stones throw away. Not on the list for a revisit, maybe thay are targetting a younger audience.

UPDATE
A change of ale policy with a much greater range of Castle Rock ales and interesting guests ,my Thornbridge Melba was terrific,NBSS 4. The cider options have been toned down to just 3 on handpump and the customer mix is varied across age groups. An upgrade from me and well worth a visit ,a great triple header with the nearby Partizan Tavern and King Billy a mere stones throw.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Fox & Grapes

Single-room pub serving Sneinton Market with quite a high ceiling and large windows, although these begin well above the normal height so slightly darker in the seating areas (two of which are raised by a single step) than one might expect. Also has a semi-open kitchen beyond the bar counter. With all but one of the 11 handpumps in use, I found three cask ales from owners Castle Rock - Harvest Pale (£4.40), Preservation and Screech Owl - plus Black Sheep's Respire and Courage Directors as guests, along with five draught ciders.

Largely unchanged since I was last here, the beer quality was better, still not convinced the number of taps is sustainable here. Eight pulls of cask beer plus three with various cidery drinks, a reasonable selection of, I think 14, European kegs among some dross plus cans and bottles, four Castle Rock beers on today. Not the worst pub in this burgeoning area but still far from the best. Anyone tried a 10% Imperial Coconut & Pecan Pastry Stout @£6.70 for 2/3 pint? S43 make one called Schitthott- geddit?

Will Larter left this review about The Fox & Grapes

A traditional pub, once owned by Banks's but now Castle Rock. The Banks's sign is hung by the bar, with the name "Peggers"; the young bar manager told me this was the pub's name before it closed down for 15 years. When Castle Rock bought it, they found that it used to be called the Fox & Grapes before that, so they revived the original name. The bar had 11 hand pumps at the time of my visit, with four real ciders available, and six real ales: five Castle Rock and a guest from Burton Bridge. My half of Preservation was in very good nick. Service was friendly and the food was appreciated by a group of young women on a nearby table: as well as the home made soup they enjoyed so much, there were also burgers, pizzas and nachos.

Fine pub, again associated with the Castle Rock brewery.

13 odd hand pulls on - I went for an excellent Jaipur on cask.

Pizzas and other "street food" available. Nachos recommended.

Excellent collection of whiskies.

Friendly staff.

Single room Castle Rock pub in a reclaimed building within the former Sneinton Market buildings. Neatly done renovation of an old pub in antique pine for the counter and fittings, the walls are mostly windows but with cream woodwork. There’s a coffee bar at the back. As is usual in these places, they can’t stop themselves from sticking up a lot of old pump clips on some surfaces, no doubt there's more to come. A feature is a Banks’s Brewery sign fixed to one wall, this is from it’s previous pub incarnation as the Peggers. 11 pulls on the bar with three for cider, five for Castle Rock beers and three for guest beers, I surmise this is too much for the available trade, my beer being decidedly average, and this is a GBG 2020 pub (my reason to visit by the way). Many kegs on sale but I didn’t bother counting. A laser display screen above the counter, visible from the front door shows the beer and cider choices.

Largish place with bar to middle left. I never went in when it was The Peggars, but this place is a good pub with good service. Boards above the bar with the cask ales on sale. Mainly Castle Rock but there was an IPA from another brewery at 5% ABV. Would definitely return to this one.
