The Boathouse, Maidstone

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Boathouse

Taken over and completely revamped by Shepherd Neame in 2018. The original pub was the central thatched building, with a small hotel once operating in the two-storey building closest to the lifting bridge over the navigation. However, the previous rear extension has now been replaced by a larger and much more attractive modern structure with a full run of picture windows overlooking the Medway. The various seating / dining areas has light semi-modern furniture, but on anything like a sunny day most people will still be found outside on the riverside benches. Like everything else, the menu and drinks range has moved upmarket, although finding just Whitstable Bay Pale available from the handpumps was a disappointment (but perhaps we were just unlucky on our first revisit since it reopened).
