Will Larter left this review about The Wallace Arms
My second pub en route from Brampton to Once Brewed, and it took me under a hour to cycle from the Belted Will, including a hill and some windy conditions, but once on the cycle route which uses the former railway track from Lambley Viaduct to Haltwhistle it became a lot easier. The pub is signposted from the trail, which is used by walkers and their dogs. I arrived about 4:30 Sunday afternoon to find a busy pub in the throes of a "pub triathlon" of quoits, bagatelle and darts. (I hope the designated drivers were all remaining sober.) I found six hand pumps on the bar, but one had been converted to serve Guinness, and another had Old Rosie cider, so there were four local real ales: two from Twice Brewed, one each from Allendale and Great North Eastern Brewing Company. I went for the Allendale Pennine Pale, which was very good. I was made very welcome, and though it might have been nice to find the pub quiet enough to have a good look around, it was great to see it so busy.
