A large, traditional village pub on a corner of the main road through Etwall. Low beams, smart and mostly modern furniture, fashionable grey paint. A pleasing emphasis on real ale - my photos taken at the time of my visit show five mainstream beers, but their Facebook page has loads of pump clip photos of quite a few more adventurous options from the likes of Dancing Duck and Little Brewing Company of Derby, Gates Burton and Burton Bridge from Staffordshire, and from as far afield as Wye Valley. My notes made at the time of my visit and only recently unearthed in a forgotten notebook say that the beer was in good condition but "not at its freshest", so maybe they had too many beers on, but bear in mind that this was not long after the Covid lockdowns, so trade was probably not yet back to normal. Worth a visit, I reckon, and an easy bus ride from Derby.
