A friendly village local, a low ceilinged building that looks like it's been extended from an original cottage. Three hand pumps, with a Thatcher's cider and two beers from Yorkshire: the hard to miss Taylor's Landlord, which I make a point of not drinking outside Yorkshire (and not very often within, to be fair) and a World Cup Ale from Broadfield, just down the road from me in Sheffield. I commented on the lack of a local beer - Alnwick Brewery is about two miles from here - and the lass behind the bar says that Heineken won't let them. I may have said they were "evil bastards", and I'll stand by that assessment. The lass commented that the Broadfield beer is popular. It's a 4.2% pale, and £5.20/pint. It just about squeaks in as Good in the new CAMRA ratings, but I might have scored it 2.5 under the old scoring system.

This very well kept traditional pub is definitely worth a visit. The pub has low ceilings and the décor is new and tastefully finished, in keeping with the age of the pub. There are three main areas, the bar and lounge in the middle, a small room on the left with comfortable settees. The right hand side of the pub was a dining area.
The main bar had a few bar stools, were we sat and enjoyed a Black Sheep Golden Sheep and a friendly chat with the manager. The staff were also a nice bunch. Some noticeable features were the collection of toby jugs and paintings around the walls.
