Located in an attractive village overlooked by Cleveland Hills this is a fairly large pub that is clearly setup for food. It has two bars. One is carpeted with a resturant feel. The other, slightly smaller, more rustic and wood floored, feels more like a pub but is still mostly tabled for food with a couple of Chesterfield sofas in one corner and a dartboard on the wall. The pub appears proud of its history with lots of pictures and local information on display. Outside there is a large carpark and a covered garden area. The barman (presumed licensee) was efficient, polite and very busy, taking orders from the groups of people here for lunch. The real ales available on hand pump were Timothy Taylor’s Knowle Spring and Boltmaker. Overall this is a very well presented pub and looks like a good place to stop for a meal if in the area.
