Behind the stained glass front windows of the Plough on the Moor is a long and thin pub with armchairs around a fireplace to the front left, a red sofa under the middle window and two four seater high tables along a graffitied wall up the front right. A long L-shaped serving counter runs up the left-hand wall and tables run up the right wall opposite. Up the right rear are some banquettes and in the left rear corner is a raised seating area called the Conservatory. The service was polite, but St Austell’s Proper Job, Dark Star’s Hophead and Black Sheep were all ‘coming soon’ which left only Doom Bar and TT Landlord available from the five hand pumps. Premium and craft keg were also available, so I went for half a Peroni that was flat as a pancake. This is a comfortable pub and I quite liked the chill out music, but only having two mainstream casks available on five hand pumps isn’t going to pull many in.

The red brick frontage of this pub is rather deceiving. A you walk through the front door you're in a thoroughly modernised pub. Some high tables and chairs to the right. Comfy seating at the front left and also in the conservatory area to the rear. There's a beer yard out the back as well. The area at the front left is devoted to pictures of MG cars. The rest of the pub has lots of pictures of ploughs & ploughing which is rather more expected given the name. 5 handpumps on the bar serving Thwaites Wainwright, Doom Bar, a real cider and 2 guest ales. I had a half of Madness Lovestruck, which turned out to be cloudy, but tasted OK and was a rip off £2. I was served by a pretty blonde barmaid who seemed to have had a personality bypass operation. I've seen more life in a dead badger. So, a good looking pub, let down by poor beer quality and a lack of enthusiasm from the staff. Could be a 7 or 8 if they get it sorted.
