You could easily miss this place. Compact at ground level, due to the presence of the bar whilst a spiral staircase leads up to a lounge room and the toilets. Outside, despite the cold weather, there were tables, chairs and an umbrella - almost very British except no one was sat outside.
Despite its bustling surroundings it was fairly quiet and welcoming inside. The chap behind the bar was friendly and chatty. He explained that the cellar, a former shooting range, is outside underneath the pavement.
8 cask ales drawn from handpulls mounted on the wall behind the bar, a further 19 draught beers and 4 cabinets of bottled beers. I had the Thornbridge Wild Swan (3.5%) which was much paler than my usual choice but fine. Many of the 8 ales were between 5 and 6%.
I may pop in again if I have time before catching the train.

I've been to the Euston Tap maybe 7 or 8 times now so thought I'd do a second review. From my experience the staff don't exactly rush around so it can take a while to get served when busy, but service has always been friendly and knowledgeable. Price wise a standard pint price of £2.80 to £3.20 is the norm but there are some scary prices for some of the premium beers. The Thornbridge Alliance at 11% is £9 a pint and there are some others around the £6-£8 mark, but these are specialist beers so I think credit should be given for being brave enough to get them in.It's worth noting that the half pint glasses are oversized so don't think you are being short changed, the pint glasses are 'to the rim' I think. Don't be confused by what is showing on the draft pumps behind the bar, they are just for decoration, details of all of the beers both cask and draft are shown on blackbords either side of the bar. A recent addition has been a few beer menus on the bar with the various bottles and prices listed. They also have special beer trays to help you get upstairs with multiple pints. Food can be ordered from a nearby pizza restaurant with whom the pub has an arrangement to deliver,. When on my own I've always found it easy to get chatting to other customers and the typical clientele are clearly those in search of good and unusual beers in the curiosity of unusual surroundings. I think the place will keep developing, although it is restricted by its size and layout, and can see it thriving in Summer when people can drink outside.

Not so busy late afternoon today, but it is a very compact space and I'd say it would be pretty uncomfortable with a good crowd inside. The ground floor area where the bar is has limited seating, just a few stools at drinking shelves either side of the room plus some more at the bar. Not a bad idea really as this frees up some space for standing drinkers in the area remaining. The rather narrow spiral stair rises up to a mezzanine level, with banquette seating around the perimeter, but not much else up here in what is a bland square room. Toilet facilities are rather basic, there is just one unisex WC compartment situated on the upper floor which will surely be a problem in busy periods.
The beers are not served from traditional pumps on the bar, there are two rows of taps on the back wall. The upper row contains 19 taps serving an eclectic mix of draught beers from Europe and the USA including today the impressively priced "Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter" at £8 a pint (9.2%). Underneath these are a further row of taps dispensing the cask stuff, eight on today. Brewdog Paradox (10%abv, £3.60 a half), Bath Ales Ginger Hare, Bristol Beer Factory Bristol Stout, Ossett Pale Gold, Marble Pint, Marble Dobber, Thornbridge Bracia (9%abv, £3.80 a half), and Thornbridge Wild Swan. With the exception of those priced above, beers varied around the £3 mark, some just under. Two large fridges either side of the bar contain bottled beers, again from Europe, mainly Germany and Belgium plus a good selection of USA craft beers.
Decor is a bit minimal but it does suit the place, mainly consisting of prints of the Architect's plans for bits of the original Euston Station including the now gone Doric Arch (not the pub of the same name). The ground floor bar has white walls with the lower portion and bar front green tiled. The floor is tiled also. A small fenced off outdoor area will cater for the smokers and the overspill when the weather permits.
To be perfectly honest I'm not sure about the place yet, I think the overall size of the pub, the narrow and tricky stair and limited toilet facilities will cause difficulties at busy times, I'm unsure how well the high gravity/high price beers will sell, yet you can't fail to be impressed with the idea and the range of non-mainstream interesting beers. Good luck I say, but I'll need a couple more visits to be sure if the concept is achieving its objective.

Opening night was very busy, as you would imagine, with a big crowd gathering outside as well. It was just a quick visit for me and only had a half, but what a half it was, Thornbridge Bracia, which someone told me was a very rare brew, first time in cask and only a few available, so I felt quite honoured. The price tag of £3.80 a half was a bit shocking but it is a 9% beer and the price no doubt reflected it's rareity. Generally the beers are reasonably priced.
There are no pumps on the bar everything is on the wall behind the bar, loads of cask and interesting draught beers plus two massive fridges each side of the small bar filled with bottles. There's a winding iron staircase to the upper room which is a bit of a nightmare, especially as it's very near impossible to pass anyone on it. There's no bar upstairs which means you have to negotiate the stairs with beer in hand. I think it might be a good idea to put another fridge up there with some bottles.
I'll definitely be paying further visits, preferably when I'm a bit more sober and when it's less busy and I can do the beers justice and have a proper look around.
