Re-opened in 2019 after four years' closure and a fair amount of work put in if the photos in the Gents' are anything to go by, this is a pleasant country pub, slanting towards the gastro side all exposed Cotswold stone, wood and open fireplaces (three), but no worse off for it. Located just after a sharp bend in this small village, there's the requisite gravel car park and outbuilding which until recently served as a village shop and a couple of A-boards out front espousing 'snuggley [sic] sofas', etc. Inside is a rectangular affair, which looks to have been knocked through over time. The bar is opposite the entrance against the far wall, partially obscured by a large fireplace stack, with dining to the right, drinking either side of the stack and a further dining area to the far left, semi-hidden via a curtain which forms an 'ell' to the main building, and rather 'Oxford College dining hall'-esque. Of four handpumps, just one offering an ale - an excellent St Austell Tribute (NBSS 4.5) which chimed in at £4.50 and was a pleasant surprise for a 'national'. Love a resurrection and it's probably one the missus would like, so I can see a revisit in the not-to-distant future should we find ourselves out this way.
