A long, old building which, if approaching from the east is down a steep slope from the road through the village, but a western approach takes you to the car park in front of the pub, where there is also a beer garden. Once inside there's a small room to the left with a pool table, but the main room of the pub stretches around to the right, obviously formerly several much smaller rooms. There's a real fire at the right hand end, amongst some dining tables. I had plenty of time to look around, as the background music was so loud that no one heard me come in. Fortunately someone was delivering some crisps or other items and he kindly informed the landlady that she had a customer. There are four hand pumps, with Old Rosie Cider, Sharps Sea Fury and Ruddles County. I went for the latter, which was an uninspired shadow of the fine beer it was 20 years ago, though it was in reasonable condition. I'd have preferred to see something local, to be honest. I had hoped that I would like this pub, but the combination of the odd beer selection and the ghastly radio pumping out hits of the 70s that I'd hoped to have heard the last of turned me against it. Sorry.
