Rex Rattus left this review about The Sands End
This is a gastropub by any definition. There are a handful of tables and chairs in the front of the room, but most of the tables in this establishment are at the back, and all these are laid for diners. The tables at the front are of the scrubbed and solid variety, with a variety of chairs, including some of those re-cycled school chairs that we tend to see quite often. The menu is on a chalkboard on the wall, with main courses around £14 - £16. The bar counter had on it an uncovered tray containing pastries and the like for sale. It made for an unusual piece of bar decor, but from a hygiene point of view somewhat wanting I would say. There was also a large bowl on the counter containing citrus fruits.
There were three ales on – Black Sheep Bitter, Doom Bar, and St Austell Tribute (£3.40 a pint) as well as Addlestone’s cider. It looks like a decent place to have a meal, but to be honest it’s not much like a traditional pub. There’s nothing else in the way of pubs in the near vicinity, so if I lived here I guess I would make it my local, and after all it does offer some decent ales.
