Real Ale Ray left this review about The Manners

We really liked it in here, a proper locals pub, away from the hustle and bustle of central Bakewell, as this pub is just on the edge of town. When we had just got our drinks and looking for somewhere to sit, one of the locals in the end snug invited us over, which I thought was nice and we all had a bit of banter, whilst enjoy a couple of Robbies beers. The pub was supposed to shut for a few weeks for a refurb and luckily enough the Brewery decided to leave well alone as it's a good functioning pub. Only changes they made is to do food in the larger lounge area.

It's a long time since I was in this Robinsons pub, and the bar counter looks new to me. The layout of the pub looks different too, with the left hand side filled with tables set up for dining, even on a day when an apologetic notice announces the kitchen being closed. There's a bit of standing space in the corridor in front of the bar, and to the right there's a sort of snug, with banquette seating around one wall and across the window. There are four hand pumps, one facing the snug (but not in use), and three on the long side of the bar, with Dizzy Blonde and Unicorn on. The Unicorn was pretty good (NBSS 3.5) and £4.60 for a pint. I'm not a fan of Robinsons, so I'll not be hurrying back, but for those who enjoy the beer, it's not a bad pub.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Manners

Having last visited Bakewell on the August bank holiday weekend in 2018, I returned on a much quieter Tuesday afternoon in winter. Our first stop was the Manners Hotel. This is a Robinson's pub on the A6 heading out of Bakewell to the south.

I'm rather surprised that this place features in the latest Good Beer Guide. It's selection of 3 staple Robinson's beers - Dizzy Blonde, Unicorn & Wizard was fairly uninspiring. So, I chose a soft drink, which completely confused the barmaid.

The pub was quite busy, with a number of elderly locals playing dominoes in the tiny tap room and others having a late lunch. Indeed, staff were happy to take orders beyond the published meal time.

There is an outdoor patio, accommodation and a car park to the rear.

I can only re-iterate the previous review, with the exception that the Unicorn was on top form.
The food was also top notch.
The place doesn't look too great from the outside, but one shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Go in. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.
This is definitely a pub to return to.

This pub is just to the south of the town centre on the main road to Matlock.
The Manners is a Robinsons tied house which has been opened out inside, the pub is carpeted throughout and one unusuall thing is there are normal chairs one side of a large table and tall chais the other side because of the different levels of the pub.
There were two real ales on the bar we had Robinsons Unicorn bitter which was well below par the other beer was Dizzy Blonde.
This is more of a locals pub.
