Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Plough
Tucked away near the village car park, this Fitzgerald's pub occupies some old stone farmhouses. From the outside, it didn't look too promising, but inside proves to be quite a large drinking space with a large lounge and a slightly smaller public bar with a pool table, darts and a TV that was playing music on our visit. There is a function room upstairs and a small outdoor area at the rear.
The ale and cider range here is what sets it apart from the local competition. Unusually for a village/small town, it is better than the local Wetherspoon's. Cullercoats Shuggy Boat Blonde is the regular ale. Guests were Hadrian Border Ouseburn Porter, Brass Castle Emergency Bitter & Misfit, Marble Manchester Bitter & Anarchy Blonde Star. Ciders were all from SeaCider - Strawberry Cider, Blood Orange Cider & Lemon Meringue Pie.
We were the first customers to arrive shortly after midday, joining a friendly and chatty barmaid. We sat in the bar area. By the time we left, another customer had appeared in the larger room, with at least one or two more out smoking in the yard.
Despite the lack of customers and atmosphere, I quite liked this place and my Ouseburn Porter went down a treat.
