The Talbot is a large family friendly Marstons pub with an L-shaped interior. Seating runs across the front and up the left and there is a dartboard in the right corner, which I suppose would be classed as the bar area. A television was airing muted rolling BBC News and the likes of Mumford & Sons played in the background. The bar supports standard and premium keg whilst the two hand pumps were drawing Wainwright and Wainwright Gold. The service was polite, but I’ll not be making the short walk from town to visit again.

This is one of those fairly new Marston's dining pubs that are springing up on roundabouts all across the country. This one is pub by numbers with most of the place set up for cheap eats and a games room type of area to the rear right. Doing a reasonable trade on my Friday, late afternoon visit. Six handpumps, every one of them badged with Wainwright, which just looks stupid. Given the vast choice I decided to have a half of Wainwright. It was very good, much better than at the (used to be) renowned Jolly Nailer at the other side of town. A very pleasant surprise, it didn't warrant another though as I had to move on.
