Old Boots left this review about Rod & Reel

A single storey pub with a separate dining room, the main bar is reached by a side door leading into a wide room with the counter in the far left corner. The centre of the room is dominated by a pool table and there is seating mainly round the edges. Six keg solos on the counter with Scottish beers from Harviestoun and “Caledonian”, plus Fosters, Guinness and Magners. The solitary handpump serves an acceptable Harviestoun beer which I imagine rotates, on this occasion it was Haggis Hunter, brown and a bit thin it was also a bit too chilled. The only decor is brewery mirrors and posters, one wall has a selection of guitars. There’s a jukebox box and a screen, it also has a very sloping floor. The right hand end is the dining area and extends round a corner towards the front of the L shaped building. There’s a patio area outside with picnic tables. My fellow drinkers and diners appeared to be a mix of locals and hiking tourists.
