A basic single room place (or ‘classic and old fashioned’) with wood panelling, some rear banquette seating and a massively high ceiling with (says my addled notes) red stripes. A men-only bar until the law forced a change; it still has no ladies toilet. Inevitably, this was the pub in which Mrs Quinno met me after her day at conference but the bar staff were friendly and there was no question or issues about her being there. No ale available so I went ‘full Scot’ and availed myself of a McEwans Export. I thought this one was decent enough and worth a nose if you’re on an extended crawl of the Granite City. 6.5
