E TA left this review about The Eagle
A moderately sized corner pub in a quiet Edwardian residential area. The decor is slightly run-down and the carpet has seen better days, but there are still some of the original architectural features to be seen if you look hard enough, and that's depite its being knocked through into a single bar. Some of the interior borders on vandalism: an extractor fan through a stained glass window, modern light fittings punched through the original ceiling and cheap wooden curtain rails clash with the original window frames. All that said, the welcome was warm and genuine, and the tv screen and gamign machine remained politely unobtrusive. No real ale on draught, but Wychwood and Fullers beers were both available in bottles. Worth a visit, especially if tied into a few pints in the nearby Queens Hotel.
