E TA left this review about Village Home

The name is very descriptive of this pub. Although Alverstoke has been subsumed into Gosport's urban sprawl, The Village Home still has a very homely, village pub feel to it, lots of character and very welcoming. A fine Georgian building which has been converted into a single large L-shaped bar, wooden floors and wooden beams (some admittedly false), exposed brick (again, not original), fireplaces and a cosy atmosphere only marginally marred by the gaming machine. The clientele is mainly local and really quite civilised. There is a good sized garden, but parking can be problematic. There were 3 ales on - I had "Gales" (ie Fullers) HSB which didn't taste like it should but was nonetheless a very good pint. Well worth including in a crawl and an excellent place to enjoy an evening's libation.
